My 4Runner already has a factory immobilizer — do I still need this?

The immobilizer is real protection against hot-wiring, which is one reason 4Runner theft rates run below average. But it only checks whether the key is valid — and relay attacks and OBD-port cloning hand the thief a key the truck accepts. The kill switch is a second, independent layer that no key, real or cloned, can satisfy.

Will it stop a relay attack on my 4Runner?

Yes — that’s the exact scenario it’s built for. In a relay attack the thief borrows your fob’s signal so the truck unlocks and tries to start normally. With the 41.22 module in the starter-relay slot, that start command goes nowhere until you disarm it. The signal boost works; the truck still doesn’t move.

Does installing it void my Toyota warranty?

It shouldn’t. Nothing is cut or spliced — the module drops into the existing relay socket, so there’s no permanent modification to point at. And if you ever need to, you can return the truck to full OEM stock in just a few minutes by swapping the factory relay back in.
